4x2 SPDIF Optical Matrix Switch with Remote and Digital Audio

When I read reviews complaining about the brightness of the lights, I thought that the reviewers were either too sensitive or too picky or both. Well, I now understand what they were talking about or perhaps I am equally as sensitive and/or picky. Thank goodness for black electrical tape. It was either that or I would have to wear sunglasses inside...LOL. The optical switcher works fine and can be controlled with my Harmony Remote. I have a Sonos system and needed an optical switcher to take advantage of Dolby 5.1 whenever possible. Although, I will say that there are times when I have to check my Sonos system to confirm what type of audio signal it is putting out. Whatever the case, this switch allows me to get the best sound and there is no need for the expensive Octava Switch which I purchased and returned. The Octava made it easier to program the Harmony Remote and combines an HDMI switch with the Optical Switch but costs 6 times the price.

I was looking for an optical audio splitter/switch for a while and finally came across this product. Basically I have 3 output devices (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC) and two input devices (surround sound system and wireless headsets), but the problem is that the input devices only have one optical input each. This little thing came to the rescue, now I have all three plugged into this matrix, and I can switch between inputs/outputs at the touch of a button on the matrix itself or on the remote controller it comes with. You can plug up to 4 input devices into this, and switch between two output devices. When they says "Premium Quality" they really mean it, it is made of a metal casing and it certainly feels hefty and premium. Sound quality is still amazing out of both my sound system and the headsets, I have not noticed any loss of quality. The only minor gripe I have is that the red and green lights that show which inputs/outputs are active are extremely bright, they can be distracting. But this is nothing major, just a tiny thing they could fix in future versions of this product by using smaller LEDs. Overall, its an excellent product and I highly recommend it.

I have tried connecting my laptop to an older television without hdmi capability. I get a display screen such as my laptop's, however I cannot seem to get the picture to be as clear as I would like it to be! It does look okay, but nothing spectacular as I was hoping for. I have adjusted the resolution all over the place and just cannot get it as clear as I wish I could? I guess it may even be either the television or the laptop itself? I just do not know? So I think I can get it to serve my purpose, but I do not especially like the clarity (or rather non-clarity) of the picture I'm getting.
