It is smaller than I expected. It fit in a corner that I thought was wasted space.

Bought this J-tech unit to act as a splitter between TV, Soundbar a DAC.The LG TV stopped reliably communicating with the sound bar through the DAC.Bought this J-tech unit to act as a splitter between TV, Soundbar a DAC. The DAC was not properly repeating the SPIDF signal to the soundbar but was decoding it and distributing the sound as needed through RCA jacks.So now I have this splitter sending the TV SPIDF to everything and it is working as needed.I can not comment on longevity at this point, only that it is doing what I need it to do at this point.I need this J-tech splitter to last, not stop repeating/working like the DAC did in 6 months.I will come back and update this review in a yr or sooner if this thing conks out.As of now, I do recommend it.

I have a ten year old plasma TV. I originally had a sound bar connected via optical cable. I was gifted wireless headphones. I originally bought a optical splitter cable but once connected I did not get any sound through either the sound bar or headphones (connecting them individually through a single cable worked). I ended up purchasing this powered splitter and now I can hear audio through both devices.I liked the bundle which included the single m/m plus the box itself.All the cables connect very snuggly which is a big plus.

My girlfriend has cochlear implants and has the Cochlear TV Streamer. The TV has only a single audio out, so I bought this splitter to use with the soundbar. Audio comes out of TV to this splitter then from this, one goes to soundbar and other goes to Cochlear TV Streamer. This works perfectly. The soundbar has very clear sound. No crackles, delays or intermittent cutting out. My girlfriend says the Cochlear TV Streamer is the same.Don't cut corners by buying the cheapest thing you can find, there is a difference. This device is powered which is a reason why the audio quality is so clear with no loss. Not only is this something everyone wants, but with hearing devices especially, its even more important there is no lag or loss of sound quality.

Works perfect! I’ve always been dissatisfied with Bluetooth only being able to connect 2 sets of headphones to our TV. This J-Tech optical splitter is able to connect to my TV and provide me with 3 optical outputs. I only purchased one of these and connected to 3 Bluetooth transmitters — I now have 5 pairs of Bluetooth headphones and one Bluetooth speaker (use as a speaker bar when not using headphones) that all work at the same time connected to the same TV. This was extremely easy to use — I connected the optical input to my TV and the 3 outputs to 3 separate Bluetooth transmitters and it immediately worked — no reading a manual, there was nothing to figure out, it just worked. I’m extremely happy with this splitter and have been pleasantly surprised with it’s great quality.

Updated Edit:OK, so after warming up ? this toslink splitter is working well, except in 1 regard: sound is still a bit tinny. I have to turn BOTH sound bars up louder by 13 to get any bass out of them. Not a deal breaker for just 2 sound bars alone, and across the room, BUT having 1 of those sound bars with a bt bass and 2 rear satelites, I should not have to hurt my ears any further than they already are. And since it sounds tinny, add being louder, the rear speakers are too loud with trebble and are really hurting my ears.I am leaving the original review below in case others run into this issue, or want to try 2 sound bars together.Reccomended for dual toslink splitter, as I have read reviews of much worse similar items.Original review:Although it does split sound, it echoes pretty badly on both sound bars. Also, the 5.1 (sounbar + sub with 2 speakers) does not work, or worse when it does work it echo's badly right in my ears. Even not using surround on either soundbar it still produses an echo. Turning each sounbar on/Off relieves some of the echo by 1/2 but does not get rid of the echo.Splitter seems to remove all Bass from my soundbars, making them very Trebble loud. Even when adjusting the Bass on the Nakamichi, it is still very Treble load.Splitter feels very cheaply made. Hard brittle plastic, no wieght to it at all.Shipping was bad also, as it just gets thrown in a bag and shipped, where the little thin box that houses this splitter is just not enough to protect it from being knocked and thrown around.Use:1x Visio 5.1 sound bar1x Nakamitchi 5.1 sound bar1x Samsung 65" QN65Q9FN TVBoth sound bars work on thier own just fine.I got this splitter hoping to add more Bass to my Vizio sound bar. Since the Vizo has very good Talking sound, and the Nakamichi has vrry good Bass, I was hoping to get the best of both worlds.Overall, NOT reccomended, especially if using 2 different sound bars (dont think this is the issue though).

This review is for the JTech 4x2 matrix, NOT the cable splitter. As noted by many, the item is well made, very compact, and has a remote, and AC adapter. My specific requirement was to split the optical audio signal from my Sony HDTV to a ZVox 440 sound base and Yamaha RN-303 receiver.Read the instructions. You can input 4 audio sources (Input 1, 2,3,4), and send the signals to 2 Outputs (Output A/Output B). In my case, Input 1 was the Sony optical audio signal, and Output A was the ZVox, and Output B was the Yamaha. Hooking up was a snap. Some have not been pleased with the brightness of the display, but I am fine with it. The unit has an on/off button, and buttons to manually change the set up, or you can use the remote. The remote is very small and thin, but the buttons are big enough. Suggest you be careful and place the remote in a safe place, as it could get misplaced because it is so small. This matrix is as advertised, as it does the job, and the audio signals are strong and I have not experienced any hint of sound loss.I highly recommend this unit. You may be shocked at its compact size, but the JTech folks have brought us an exceptional solution for those seeking to port optical audio signals, without using Y cable/splitters. Also, the JTech technicians and customer service folks are a simple phone call away to aid you with any questions or problems you may encounter.Buy it with confidence.

I had no issues at all using this to split my optical connection from my Sound Blaster Z card in my Window 10 PC. But when I decided to use the Dolby Digital Live feature of the sound card to get surround sound, I noticed a lot of like hiccups or pops in the sound. As if for a brief moment there was nothing playing. To determine if it was the J-Tech device, I took the input SPDIF cable and plugged it directly into my speakers: Everything played perfectly. I plugged the input back into the J-tech and plugged the same speakers into the output and the problem surfaced again. So I guess if you're not using Dolby Digital Live on a PC this would be 5 stars, but if you are using that, then I just give it 3. Not sure if there's any issues with other types of Dolby technologies or DTS.

A few weeks ago, I purchased the one other splitter that Amazon sold (as well as all of the other online electronics retail stores I searched). The other splitter is sold under different brand names but it's the same exact device, so be warned.Anyway, I was at my wit's end. With a brand new TV and only one optical audio connection (seriously, TV designers?), I was constantly switching out the connections between my soundbar and my headphones. It was a pain in the butt, not to mention, I was concerned I would damage the connections over time. So in a last attempt to find a solution, and a whole lot of website hopping, I found this.I really didn't want another electrical item plugged in. In fact, I don't have room so I've had to purchase a larger surge protector. As well as another optical cable to go from the device to the TV because heaven forbid they provide even a 3' one. (Those add-on items make the companies money, don't ya know?) Whatever. It's worth it because now I can use my soundbar, my headphones, both at the same time if I so choose, and I don't have to mess around behind the tv with the connections.The sound is excellent. No loss of signal or quality. The connections are easy, just make sure you have another optical cord and room to plug in the AC adapter.

I was looking to buy a new TV when I discovered that the newer TV's only have one audio out port and it's optical. On my older Samsung I had a sound plate hooked up to the optical port and then Sennheiser 160 headphones hooked to audio out jack and that worked. I love my headphones because i'm getting hard of hearing. While I couldn't use the old headphones because they don't have an optical option, I decided to purchase a new set of Sennheiser 175 headphones with optical connection and this splitter that another reviewer somewhere recommended to split the optical signal between the headphones and the soundplate so I didn't have to keep plugging and unplugging the various outputs into the optical port. I ordered it before buying a new TV to see if it would work and it worked beautifully on my current TV. I connected both the sound plate and the new headphones to this device and then the splitter to the TV and both worked. I left the speaker setting on the TV as TV speaker, instead of optical as others suggested because when I changed it to OPTICAL only the sound plate worked. I then lowered the TV volume to zero and both my sound plate and the headphones worked at the same time so that when my family was around they could hear the sound from the TV while i listened through my headphones. So now I'm going to go buy a new larger screen TV since I know this set up will work. This little splitter is worth it for only $21.00 plus the price of the connection cable - be sure to buy a cable to connect the devise to the TV, it is not provided but only $5 on Amazon. The worse case scenario would have been it wouldn't have worked and i'd have to buy a new HDMI sound bar for the new TV in order to use the optical port for the headphones. But it did work and saved me a bunch of money. Solved my problem and i couldn't be happier because I figured it out myself and it works!

J-Tech contacted me and made things all good by selling me 2 pieces equipment (including this item) and refunding on that item.I wanted to easily switch from louder evening 5.1 surround sound to night-time headphones listening. The alternate paths go to my 5.1 DTS system and to my headphones. I wanted my solution to split off and downmix to stereo the 5.1 optical signal from my TV. This item is part of a great solution.As an example, I really love the sound of the Pitch Perfect 2 movie ending where the Bellas are competing at the world a capella championships. Using this device outputting to my stereo headphones, I hear all of the surround channels.
