General Troubleshooting Tips for HDMI Extenders

on

Having trouble with your HDMI extender? Start by checking that all your cables are securely connected — sometimes a loose plug is all it takes!

  • Make sure you're using quality HDMI cables (preferably HDMI 1.4 or higher) and Cat cables terminated to T568A or T568B standards.
  • Double-check your source device’s resolution settings to match your TV or display.
  • Avoid flat or low-quality cables, as they can cause issues. Lastly, try to keep cable runs short and away from potential sources of interference for the best signal quality.

Example: Source Device = Apple TV (4th & 5th Gen)

  • Navigate to your settings tab

Go to “Audio and Video”

  • Here you can adjust your output resolution and audio format

Example: Source Device = PC Desktop/Laptop

To navigate to your display settings in Windows 10:

Windows -> Settings -> System -> Display Settings

  • Make sure a 2nd display is recognized by the source

  • You must be in extended mode on your 2nd display in order to adjust resolution. Please note that you should have an unchecked box next to “Make this my main display”

  • Click “display adapter properties”

  • Click on the “Monitor” tab
  • Here, you can adjust the refresh rate of your source to match that of your TV/Monitor/Projector

Example: Source Device = Mac Desktop/Macbook

  • Navigate to Apple Logo > System Preferences

  • Display

  • Once you have connected a second display the “Arrangement” tab should appear, this is gives you the option of arranging the screens in different configurations

  • On the “Display” tab you can adjust your resolution and refresh rate
